Zinnia hybrida Profusion White | Compact White Zinnia | Seeds

Zinnia Profusion White produces masses of white, daisy-like flowers with golden-yellow centres. Growing approximately 30 cm tall, this compact variety brings a fresh, elegant look to flower beds, border edges, containers and balcony pots.

Its naturally bushy habit and strong branching create a rounded plant covered in flowers. The blooms measure approximately 5 cm across and combine beautifully with pastel shades, bright summer colours and green foliage.

What Makes Profusion White Special?

Compact, naturally branching plants
Profusion White forms a neat, bushy plant without the need for pinching. Its low-growing habit makes it particularly useful along paths, at the front of borders and in pots.

Abundant white flowers
The single blooms create a generous display throughout the warmer months. White flowers are easy to combine with other plants and help bring different colours together in mixed containers.

Excellent powdery mildew tolerance
Profusion White is valued for its strong tolerance to powdery mildew, helping the foliage remain attractive through the season. Good airflow and careful watering still support healthy growth.

Good performance in summer heat
A sunny position and regular watering help this vigorous variety maintain its display during warm weather.

Easy-care flowering
Regular deadheading is not essential for a generous display, although removing tired flowers can keep plants looking tidy.

Award-Winning Garden Performance

Profusion White received an All-America Selections Gold Medal in 2001 and a Fleuroselect Gold Medal, recognising its garden performance and ornamental qualities.

Sowing & Germination

Indoor sowing: Approximately 4–6 weeks before the last expected frost
Direct sowing: After the risk of frost has passed and the soil has warmed
Sowing depth: Approximately 0.5 cm
Germination temperature: Approximately 22–25°C

Sow into individual cells or small pots filled with a fine, well-drained seed-starting substrate. Cover lightly and keep evenly moist without waterlogging.

After germination, provide plenty of light. Avoid keeping seedlings in small cells for too long, and handle their roots carefully when transplanting.

Harden off gradually before planting outdoors. Zinnias are frost-sensitive, so wait until conditions are reliably warm.

Growing Conditions & Care

Choose full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. Space plants approximately 25–30 cm apart to allow room for growth and airflow.

Water at soil level, especially during dry weather. Container-grown plants may need more frequent watering, but excess water should drain freely.

Pinching is unnecessary because Profusion White branches naturally. Its compact growth usually requires no staking.

Flowering & Garden Use

Under favourable growing conditions, flowering can begin approximately 8–9 weeks after sowing. Cooler temperatures or low light may extend this period.

Plant in groups for a bright white summer display, use along border edges or combine with other compact flowers in patio containers. Enjoy the flowers through summer and into autumn, until the first frost.
