Sowing Instructions
Sow seeds 8–10 weeks before the last expected frost, or throughout the year for greenhouse production.
Surface sow the pelleted seeds and do not cover, as light is required for germination. Maintain temperatures of 18–21°C (64–70°F).
Seedlings are generally ready for transplanting after 4–5 weeks.
For outdoor production, sow from February to May for flowering later the same season, or sow during August to September to overwinter for blooms the following year.
Growing Tips
Plant in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil.
Lima naturally develops strong, finely branched stems, producing abundant sprays of flowers with excellent uniformity and consistent quality throughout the growing season.
After the first flowering flush, cut plants back to ground level to encourage vigorous regrowth and additional harvests.
In mild climates, plants may overwinter and continue flowering in subsequent seasons.
Harvest
Harvest stems when approximately 75% of the flowers on each spray are fully open for the longest vase life and optimal post-harvest quality.
For dried flowers, harvest when all flowers have completely opened.
