Large Anemone-Type Flowers

Safari Tangerine stands out with its large, semi-double anemone-type flowers.

The rich tangerine-orange colour brings warmth and intensity to summer plantings, while the large flowers create a much more impressive display than many traditional compact French Marigolds.

The flowers are produced abundantly above the foliage, creating a colourful and densely flowering plant throughout the season.

Compact & Vigorous Growth

Despite its impressive flowers, Safari maintains a compact and manageable growth habit.

Plants reach approximately 23 cm in height and 23 cm in width, developing into naturally bushy, well-branched mounds.

This combination of compact size, vigorous growth and abundant flowering makes the Safari series especially useful for both container growing and garden planting.

Excellent for Pots & Containers

Safari is an excellent choice for pots, balcony containers and mixed summer arrangements.

Its compact growth allows the plant to remain neat, while the large flowers create plenty of visual impact.

It can be planted alone for a strong block of colour or combined with other summer annuals in larger mixed containers.

Beautiful in Flower Beds & Borders

In the garden, Safari creates dense, colourful plantings and is particularly effective when planted in groups.

Its approximately 23 cm height makes it ideal for the front of flower beds, along paths, around raised beds and as a colourful summer border.

For the strongest visual effect, plant several plants together to create a continuous mass of flowers.

Long & Abundant Flowering

Safari is a day-neutral Marigold, meaning flowering is not dependent on a specific day length.

With sufficient light and warm growing conditions, plants develop quickly and begin producing their characteristic large flowers.

Removing faded flowers regularly can help keep plants tidy and encourage continued flowering throughout the summer.

Growing from Seed

French Marigolds are among the easiest annual flowers to grow from seed, making Safari an excellent choice for both beginners and experienced gardeners.

For earlier flowering, sow indoors before the last frost.

  • Sow 1 seed per plug or cell
  • Place the seed on moist growing medium
  • Cover lightly with a thin layer of growing medium or vermiculite
  • Light is not required for germination
  • Germination temperature: 22–24°C
  • Germination time: approximately 2–3 days
  • Keep the growing medium evenly moist during germination

Once the seedlings have emerged and developed their cotyledons, the temperature can be reduced to approximately 20–21°C.

Light & Growing Conditions

Safari grows and flowers best in a bright, sunny position, although it can also tolerate partial shade.

High light levels and warm temperatures encourage faster growth and earlier flowering.

For the best garden performance, choose a position with plenty of sunlight and good air circulation.

Watering & Soil

Grow Safari in fertile, loose and well-drained soil or growing medium.

Keep young seedlings evenly moist, but avoid keeping the roots continuously waterlogged.

Once established, allow the surface of the soil to dry slightly between watering.

Plants grown in pots and containers may require more frequent watering during hot summer weather.

Planting Outdoors

Plant outdoors after the danger of frost has passed and the young plants have been gradually acclimatised to outdoor conditions.

Safari develops quickly in warm weather and can provide a colourful display within a relatively short growing period.

Space plants sufficiently to allow their naturally rounded habit to develop.
