Nicotiana langsdorfii "Lemon Tree" is also known as flowering tobacco.
This stunning lemon-colored variety boasts long stems (90 cm) adorned with delicate green trumpets as flowers. Once it’s germinated, it’s easy to take care of. You can grow it in pots or use its long stems as cut flowers for arrangements.
A good color combination for lemon green colored flowering tobacco would be soft or pastel shades that complement the delicate lemon hue.
- Sow in February/March for flower harvest in July, transplant 2 weeks after last frost has passed with 30cm spacing.
- Species: Nicotiana langsdorffii
- From sowing to flowering: 90 to 100 days.
- Germination: 10-15 days, ideal germination temperature is 22-26°C
- Sowing depth: 0 cm, surface sow seeds and gently press into soil, as light aids germination. Seeds germinate in 10-14 days.
- Height: 80-90 cm.
- Planting location: sunny, well-drained soil.
- Positive for pollinators: Attracts pollinators with its trumpet-shaped flowers.
- Fragrance: Slightly fragrant.
- Application: cut flower, spectacular in bouquets. Cut and come again variety. Cut flowers regularly to encourage growth and to prolong flowering window. Deadhead if you do not want it to self-seed.
- Pinch: the main stem pinching at 25-30 cm height will promote branching and increase blooming.
