Matthiola incana Katz Cherry Blossom | Stock Seeds

Katz Cherry Blossom is a stunning variety of Matthiola incana with excellent uniformity in bloom time and stem length. Known for its delicate cherry-blossom pink flowers and delightful fragrance, this stock variety is ideal for cut flower production and garden planting.

Sowing & Growing Instructions:

  • Germination Time: 7–14 days at 18–24°C
  • Transplanting:
    • Start indoors 5–6 weeks before transplanting
    • Sow ¼" (6 mm) deep in 128-cell plug flats
    • Space plants 20-30cm apart
    • Use a trellis for support in warmer climates or frequent rain
  • Direct Sowing:
    • Only after the risk of frost has passed
    • Do not pinch plants, as this will terminate flowering
  • Soil Requirements: Well-drained, moderately rich soil
  • Watering & Fertilization: Prefers moist soil but avoid overwatering; feed monthly
  • Selection for Double Flowers:
    • Chill seedlings at 4–7°C for 3–4 days during cotyledon stage
    • Select lighter green, oval-shaped cotyledons for double flowers
    • Discard small, dark green, or round cotyledons as they produce single flowers
