Limonium sinuatum Hipster™ Rose is a compact, uniform Statice variety with intensely coloured rose-pink flower clusters held above dense, dark green foliage. Developed for pots and containers, it is also highly useful as a fresh cut flower and dried flower, combining attractive garden performance with the characteristic long-lasting, papery blooms of Statice.

Hipster™ Rose grows to approximately 60 cm tall and 35 cm wide. Its compact, dense habit makes it particularly suitable for containers and landscape planting, while the strong flowering stems can also be harvested for bouquets and floral arrangements.

When to Sow

How to Sow Statice Seeds

Sow 1–2 seeds per cell into a fine, moist and well-drained seed-starting substrate.

Cover the seeds lightly with fine vermiculite or a thin layer of substrate. Avoid burying them deeply.

Maintain a temperature of approximately 18–21°C during germination and keep the substrate evenly moist.

Under optimum conditions, the first seedlings can emerge in approximately 4–7 days.

Good air circulation is important as seedlings develop. Once germinated and established, provide plenty of light to encourage strong, compact growth.

Growing the Seedlings

After germination, grow seedlings in bright conditions with good ventilation.

Avoid keeping the young plants constantly saturated. The substrate should remain moist but well aerated.

Growing Hipster™ Rose

Grow in full sun to partial shade, although plenty of light encourages strong flowering.

Water regularly while plants establish, allowing good drainage between waterings. Avoid prolonged waterlogging.

Once established, Limonium sinuatum is relatively tolerant of heat and drier conditions.

For the best ornamental display in containers, remove old or damaged flower stems as needed to maintain a neat appearance.

Harvesting for Cut Flowers

Although Hipster™ Rose is particularly well suited to container production, its flowering stems can also be used as fresh cut flowers.

Harvest when the flower clusters are well coloured and the small true flowers within the papery bracts are opening.

Cut the stems cleanly and place them immediately into fresh water.

Drying Statice

Harvest well-developed, richly coloured flower stems and remove excess foliage.
