Unique Sparkler-Like Globe Amaranth for Cut Flowers
Gomphrena pulchella ‘Fireworks’ is unlike any globe amaranth seen before. This extraordinary variety produces dazzling clusters of iridescent hot-pink flowers tipped with bright yellow, resembling tiny sparkling fireworks. The narrow, quill-like petals extend from the flower heads, creating a vibrant, architectural effect that instantly catches the eye.
Introduced by Ball Horticulture, ‘Fireworks’ quickly became a favorite among gardeners and flower growers for its unique structure, long flowering season, and exceptional productivity.
Plants form a dense basal clump of foliage before sending up numerous tall, slender stems reaching 60–120 cm in height. Each branching stem carries rounded flower clusters about 2–3 cm in diameter, made up of dozens of small blossoms with glowing yellow stamens emerging from vivid pink bracts — creating the appearance of miniature firecrackers.
The airy, open habit of this plant is reminiscent of Verbena bonariensis, with flowers held high above the foliage, making it a striking architectural element in the garden and an excellent cut flower.
This vigorous and very low-maintenance annual performs beautifully in summer heat and produces stems continuously throughout the season. The flowers are excellent for fresh bouquets and also dry well, making them popular for dried flower arrangements.
Highly attractive to pollinators and butterflies, Gomphrena ‘Fireworks’ adds movement, color, and structure to cutting gardens and flower farms.
