Gomphrena globosa PingPong White F1 | Globe Amaranth | Seeds

Globe Amaranth PingPong White produces rounded white flower heads above dark green foliage. Its fresh colouring brings a light touch to sunny borders, patio containers and summer bouquets.

Growing approximately 50–60 cm tall in the garden, PingPong White forms a bushy, well-branched plant with strong flower stems. This easy-to-grow annual enjoys warmth and sunshine, tolerates hot, humid conditions and needs relatively little maintenance once established.

The papery flower heads retain their shape well, making them useful for both fresh arrangements and dried floral designs.

White Flowers for Gardens & Bouquets

PingPong White combines easily with almost any flower colour. Plant it alongside soft pink, lavender and blue flowers for a gentle summer display, or use it to soften brighter purple, orange and yellow combinations.

Its rounded flower heads contrast beautifully with daisy-shaped blooms, airy grasses and trailing plants. Grow in groups in a sunny border or include it in a larger mixed container.

For florists and cutting gardeners, the white flowers add small points of light and an interesting texture to natural bouquets and wedding arrangements.

Sowing & Germination

Sowing method: Start indoors in individual plug cells
Seeds per cell: One
Seed covering: A thin layer of vermiculite
Germination temperature: Approximately 25°C
Initial germination stage: Approximately the first 10 days under suitable conditions
Seedling production: Approximately 5–6 weeks

Sow into a fine, moist, well-drained seed-starting mix. Cover lightly with vermiculite and keep warm.

Maintain even moisture during germination, but avoid saturating the substrate. Adequate warmth is important for a good start.

After emergence, provide bright light and good ventilation. Young plants develop well at approximately 24–26°C during the day and 18°C at night.

As seedlings grow, allow the substrate surface to dry slightly between waterings. Begin feeding lightly with a balanced fertiliser.

Transplanting

Do not delay transplanting. Gomphrena is sensitive to root damage and should be moved while young, before roots become crowded in the cells.

Keep the root ball intact and harden plants off gradually before moving them outdoors.

Plant outside after the danger of frost has passed and conditions are reliably warm. Use containers with drainage holes and enough space for the roots and branching growth.

Growing Conditions & Care

Choose full sun and well-drained soil. PingPong White enjoys summer warmth and tolerates humid air, but its roots should not remain in waterlogged soil.

Water regularly during establishment. Once rooted, plants tolerate short dry spells, although containers need more frequent watering than garden beds.

Feed moderately to support steady growth. Strong branching from the base helps the plants develop a naturally full appearance.

Cut flowers for bouquets or remove ageing flower heads to keep the display tidy.

How Long From Seed to Flower?

Under suitable production conditions, allow approximately 12–13 weeks from sowing for flowering plants in larger containers.

This includes seedling production and further development after transplanting. Cool temperatures and low light can delay flowering, so a warm, bright start is especially helpful in shorter growing seasons.

Cutting & Drying

For fresh bouquets: Harvest well-developed, fully coloured flower heads on firm stems. Remove leaves below the waterline and place stems promptly into clean water.

For drying: Cut mature white flower heads before they become weathered or discoloured. Tie into small bunches and hang upside down in a dry, shaded, well-ventilated place.
