Fritillaria persica Magic Bells
Fritillaria persica Magic Bells
Fritillaria 'Magic Bells' showcases striking, twisted grey-green leaves that gracefully wrap around its sturdy stems. This tall fritillary, a hybrid of the stunning cultivars F. 'Adiyaman' and F. 'Ivory Bells,' surpasses the traditional Fritillaria persica in every aspect as a garden plant. But the real allure lies in its abundant, nodding bell-shaped flowers, which start as a soft greenish-white with hints of dusky purple and gradually open to reveal creamy stamens inside. These blooms cascade down 65-90cm spikes, with up to 30 flowers per spike.
If that’s not enough to tempt you, consider that Fritillaria persica 'Magic Bells' also makes an excellent, long-lasting cut flower, adding a touch of drama to indoor arrangements. Though hardy, this fritillary thrives best in a sunny border with some protection, a nod to its origins in southern Turkey
