Eustoma grandiflorum Flare Jade II F1 | Lisianthus | Pelleted Seeds
Professional spray-type Lisianthus with double jade-green flowers clustered at the top of long, strong stems – creating a naturally abundant bouquet effect on every stem. No pinching required.
Eustoma grandiflorum Flare Jade II F1 is a professional cut flower Lisianthus from the exceptional Flare F1 series, bred specifically for its distinctive spray-type, top-flowering habit.
Instead of producing just a few widely spaced flowers, Flare develops multiple double flowers near the top of each stem. They open within a relatively short flowering window, making every harvested stem look like a small, naturally arranged bouquet.
Flare Jade II brings an especially sophisticated colour to this unusual flower form. Its soft jade-green flowers are fresh, elegant and exceptionally versatile for contemporary floristry, wedding work and natural garden-style bouquets.
Another important advantage of the Flare series is its reduced sensitivity to rosetting, helping to reduce production risk when compared with more sensitive Lisianthus genetics.

What Makes the Flare Series Special?
Flare has been bred as a professional spray-type Lisianthus series, with a very different appearance from traditional Lisianthus.
Several double flowers develop close together at the top of each stem and open within a relatively short period.
The result is a beautiful bouquet effect on every stem.
This offers an important advantage in floristry: one Flare stem can provide considerably more visual volume in an arrangement. The full spray effect may even help reduce the number of stems needed to create an abundant bouquet.
Flare also offers two particularly valuable characteristics for growers:
No pinching is required. The plants naturally develop their characteristic top-flowering habit.
Reduced sensitivity to rosetting. The Flare series has been bred and selected to reduce the risk of rosetting, helping provide more reliable professional production.
Beautiful Jade-Green Flowers
Flare Jade II F1 produces sophisticated double flowers in a beautiful soft jade-green shade.
Green Lisianthus is exceptionally versatile in floral design because it can act both as a flower and as a natural transition between flowers and foliage.
The fresh green colour works beautifully with:
- white and ivory;
- cream and champagne;
- blush and dusty pink;
- apricot and peach;
- lavender and pale lilac;
- burgundy and deeper floral tones;
- eucalyptus and silvery foliage;
- other green flowers and textured foliage.
Jade is particularly beautiful for modern wedding floristry, elegant monochromatic arrangements, natural garden-style bouquets and sophisticated green-and-white designs.
Professional Spray-Type Cut Flower
Flare Jade II F1 has been bred specifically for professional cut flower production.
Plants develop long stems approximately 91–114 cm tall, with several double flowers concentrated near the top.
This makes Flare suitable both as a focal flower and as a secondary flower, depending on the style of arrangement.
Its main advantages for cut flower growers include:
- multiple flowers toward the top of every stem;
- flowers opening within a relatively short window;
- natural bouquet effect;
- long professional-quality stems;
- excellent volume per stem;
- reduced sensitivity to rosetting;
- no pinching required.
What Does Group II Mean?
Flare is classified as Speed Group 2, meaning it has a medium flowering speed within professional Lisianthus production.
The group number is useful when planning different Lisianthus varieties for succession flowering.
Actual flowering time is influenced by season, temperature, day length, light intensity and growing conditions, so the group should be considered a scheduling guide rather than an exact flowering date.
Excellent Vase Life
Flare Jade II F1 combines its unusual spray habit with excellent performance as a cut flower.
When harvested and conditioned correctly, the flowers have an approximate vase life of 10–14 days.
Because several flowers and buds are carried near the top of every stem, each stem remains visually full and attractive as the flowers continue to develop.
Sowing & Germination
Flare Jade II F1 is supplied as pelleted seed, making the naturally extremely small Lisianthus seeds considerably easier to handle and sow accurately.
Use a fine, high-quality seed-starting substrate and moisten it before sowing.
Place 1 pelleted seed per cell on the surface of the substrate. Gently press the pellet against the moist growing medium to ensure good contact.
Do not bury the seed deeply. Flare requires a light cover, so a very thin layer of fine vermiculite can be used.
- Seeds per cell: 1
- Seed Form: Pelleted
- Sowing: Surface sow
- Cover: Very lightly; a thin layer of fine vermiculite can be used
- Germination Temperature: approx. 20–22°C
- Germination: approx. 8–12 days
- Recommended Initial pH: 5.8–6.2
- Plug Crop Time: approx. 8–10 weeks
During germination, keep the growing medium evenly moist but not waterlogged. It is especially important that the pellet does not dry out after sowing.
After germination, provide plenty of light and good air circulation.
Important Temperature Tip for Young Plants
Although Flare has been bred for reduced sensitivity to rosetting, young Lisianthus seedlings should still be protected from excessive heat.
Beginning in the early seedling stages, avoid prolonged growing-medium temperatures above approximately 22°C, as excessive heat can induce rosetting.
A rosetted plant may remain compact and fail to develop normal long flowering stems after transplanting.
As the seedlings mature, temperatures can gradually be reduced.
Tip for beginners: Lisianthus seedlings are extremely small and naturally grow slowly during their first weeks. This is normal. Do not try to force faster growth with excessive heat, heavy fertilising or overwatering. Consistent moisture, good light and moderate temperatures are more important.
How Long From Seed to Flower?
Lisianthus has a relatively long growing cycle, so early sowing is recommended.
The plug stage takes approximately 8–10 weeks.
After transplanting, allow approximately:
- Summer: 10–12 weeks
- Spring / Autumn: 12–14 weeks
- Winter: 14–18 weeks
This gives an approximate total from sowing to flowering of:
Spring–Autumn: around 18–24 weeks or approximately 126–168 days (4.5–5.5 months).
During winter production, the total crop time may extend to approximately 154–196 days.
The exact flowering time will depend on temperature, day length, light intensity and growing conditions.
Light & Flowering
Flare Lisianthus is a facultative long-day plant.
This means the plants can flower under different day lengths, but longer days can accelerate flowering.
During winter, when natural days are short, professional growers may use supplemental lighting. For home and small-scale growers, the most important principle is to provide as much good-quality light as possible.
High light levels also contribute to stronger stems and better flower quality.
Growing
Flare Jade II F1 is best suited to greenhouse and high-tunnel production.
Grow in fertile, well-drained soil and provide regular moisture without allowing the root zone to remain constantly saturated.
Professional planting density is approximately:
- Summer: 84 plants/m²
- Winter: 64 plants/m²
Depending on season and growing conditions, approximately 65–86 plants/m² can be used.
For long, straight cut flower stems, support netting is required in tunnel production and recommended in greenhouse production.
Plants grown in full outdoor sun may produce shorter stems than greenhouse-grown plants.
No Pinching Required
One of the biggest practical advantages of Flare is that pinching is not required.
The plants naturally develop the distinctive spray-type structure with several flowers concentrated at the top of each stem.
This saves labour for professional growers while also making the crop easier to manage for smaller cut flower farms.
Harvesting
Harvest Flare Jade II F1 when the first flower on the stem has fully opened.
Use clean cutting tools and place freshly harvested stems into clean water or an appropriate floral hydration solution as soon as possible.
The remaining flowers and buds at the top of the stem create the characteristic full Flare bouquet effect.
