Eustoma grandiflorum ABC™ Lavender II F1 | Lisianthus | Pelleted Seeds

Professional Group 2 Lisianthus with large, richly double lavender flowers and long, strong stems – an exceptional cut flower for romantic bouquets, weddings and elegant floral design.

Eustoma grandiflorum ABC™ Lavender II F1 is a professional Lisianthus from the renowned ABC™ Series, developed specifically for high-quality cut flower production. It produces large, beautifully double flowers with a high petal count, carried on long, strong stems.

Lavender II stands out for its elegant classic lavender colour – a sophisticated blend of soft violet and lilac tones. Unlike the cooler, more blue-toned Misty Blue, Lavender II has a clearer lavender-purple appearance, making it a beautiful choice for romantic, pastel and sophisticated floral palettes.

ABC™ genetics are valued for uniform growth, strong stems, high-quality double flowers and reduced sensitivity to rosetting, helping growers produce reliable, professional-quality cut flower stems.

What Does Group II Mean?

The “II” in ABC™ Lavender II F1 means Group 2. Lisianthus varieties are divided into flowering groups according to their flowering speed and the growing conditions for which they are best suited.

Group 2 varieties flower somewhat later than Group 1 varieties and are useful as temperatures and light levels increase. This makes Lavender II an excellent choice for extending the Lisianthus cutting season.

Growing varieties from different flowering groups can help provide a longer and more continuous Lisianthus harvest.

Beautiful Classic Lavender Flowers

The colour is one of the most attractive features of ABC™ Lavender II F1.

Its large double blooms open in a beautiful lavender shade with soft lilac-purple undertones. The colour is refined without being overly dark and works beautifully in both soft pastel arrangements and more contrasting floral combinations.

Lavender II pairs particularly well with white, ivory, blush pink, dusty rose, soft apricot, pale yellow and blue flowers, as well as eucalyptus and silvery foliage.

It is an especially beautiful variety for wedding bouquets, romantic garden-style arrangements and premium seasonal floristry.

Professional Cut Flower Quality

The ABC™ Series was developed specifically for professional cut flower Lisianthus production.

ABC™ Lavender II F1 combines large, double flowers with long and strong stems, giving the variety excellent presence in bouquets and floral arrangements.

Uniform plant vigour and reduced sensitivity to rosetting help produce consistent, high-quality stems throughout the crop.

With stems reaching approximately 91–114 cm, Lavender II is an excellent choice for florists and cut flower growers looking for long-stemmed Lisianthus.

Excellent Vase Life

Lisianthus is prized by florists not only for its elegant, rose-like flowers but also for its impressive longevity after cutting.

ABC™ Lavender II F1 offers an approximate vase life of 10–14 days when harvested and cared for correctly.

The combination of strong stems, multiple buds and excellent vase performance makes it particularly valuable for professional bouquets and wedding work.

Sowing & Germination

Lisianthus seeds are extremely small. ABC™ Lavender II F1 is supplied as pelleted seed, making each seed much easier to handle and sow accurately.

Fill a plug tray with a fine, pre-moistened seed-starting substrate. Place 1 pelleted seed per cell on the surface and press it very gently to ensure good contact with the moist growing medium.

Do not bury the seeds deeply. Leave them on the surface or cover only very lightly with fine vermiculite.

  • Sowing: 1 pelleted seed per cell
  • Sowing Depth: Surface sow
  • Cover: None or a very light layer of fine vermiculite
  • Germination Temperature: 20–22°C
  • Germination: approx. 8–12 days under optimum conditions
  • Plug Production: approx. 8–10 weeks

Keep the growing medium consistently moist but not waterlogged. It is particularly important that the pellet does not dry out after sowing.

After germination, provide bright light and good air circulation. Avoid excessively warm conditions, particularly while the young plants are developing.

Beginner tip: Lisianthus seedlings are naturally tiny and slow-growing during their first weeks. This is normal. Avoid trying to speed up growth with excessive heat or fertiliser – consistent moisture, good light and patience are much more important.

How Long From Seed to Flower?

Lisianthus is a relatively slow-growing flower and should therefore be started well in advance.

Allow approximately 8–10 weeks (56–70 days) from sowing until the young plants are ready for transplanting.

After transplanting, approximate crop time is:

  • Summer: 10–12 weeks
  • Spring / Autumn: 12–14 weeks
  • Winter: 14–18 weeks

For spring through autumn production, allow approximately 126–168 days, or 4.5–5.5 months, from sowing to the first flowers. Winter crops may take longer.

Planning tip: count backwards approximately 4.5–5.5 months from the time you would like to begin harvesting your first flowers. Exact flowering time will depend on temperature, light levels and growing conditions.

Growing

ABC™ Lavender II F1 performs particularly well in a greenhouse or high tunnel, where conditions can be kept more stable.

Grow in fertile, well-drained soil with plenty of light and good air circulation. Avoid prolonged excessive heat, especially during the early stages of plant development.

For professional cut flower production, plants can be grown at approximately 65–85 plants/m², adjusted according to season and growing conditions.

Harvesting

Harvest stems when the first flower on the stem is fully open.

Use clean cutting tools and place freshly harvested stems immediately into clean water. The remaining buds can continue to open in the vase, creating a beautiful, long-lasting display.
