Growing Instructions

Sowing Indoors:

  • Sow from March to April in trays or pots under cover (18–22 °C).
  • Cover seeds lightly with fine compost or vermiculite.
  • Germination takes 7–14 days.

Transplanting:

  • Prick out seedlings when large enough to handle and grow on in cooler conditions (10–15 °C).
  • Harden off and plant outdoors after the last frost (mid-May onwards).

Sowing Outdoors:

  • Alternatively, sow directly into well-prepared soil from late April to May. Thin seedlings to 25–30 cm spacing.

Site Requirements:

  • Position: Full sun.
  • Soil: Well-drained, moderately fertile soil. Avoid over-fertilizing, as this promotes foliage over flowers.
