Clarkia amoena Grace Shell Pink F1 | Godetia Seeds

Godetia Grace Shell Pink F1 produces delicate shell-pink flowers with silky, satin-like petals on upright, branching stems. Its soft colour brings a romantic touch to bouquets and borders, combining beautifully with white, cream, lavender and apricot flowers.

This uniform F1 hybrid is a cool-season annual suited to cutting gardens and mixed flower beds. Grace performs best during long, cool springs, developing flowering branches that provide several stems for seasonal arrangements.

Soft Shell-Pink Flowers for Bouquets

Grace Shell Pink F1 offers a gentle pink shade for pastel arrangements and romantic garden planting. Its satiny petals add texture without overwhelming other flowers.

Grow alongside white bellflowers, blush lisianthus or lavender-toned flowers for a coordinated cutting garden. Plants can be pinched when young to encourage more evenly sized flowering stems.

Sowing & Germination

Sowing Method: Start indoors or sow directly into prepared soil
Indoor Sowing: Approximately 4–6 weeks before the intended planting date
Sowing Depth: Surface sow
Cover Seed: No
Germination Time: Approximately 10–14 days under suitable conditions

Sow onto the surface of a fine, moist, well-drained seed compost and gently press into place. Do not cover with soil. Water carefully and maintain even moisture without waterlogging.

After emergence, provide bright light, cool growing conditions and good ventilation. Avoid excessive feeding.

Transplant while seedlings are young, before they become root-bound. Handle the root ball gently and avoid pulling seedlings by their stems. Harden off gradually before planting outdoors.

Established, hardened plants tolerate some light frost, but young plants should be protected from heavy or prolonged freezing.

Growing Conditions & Care

Grace prefers cool weather and does not perform well in extreme heat. Choose full sun and freely draining soil. Avoid excessive compost, nitrogen-rich feeding and persistently wet conditions.

Water at soil level, keeping moisture steady during establishment. Provide good airflow around the plants.

For outdoor branching plants, allow approximately 20–25 cm between plants. Support netting is useful for maintaining straight stems; two layers can help support a tall cutting crop.

Long days encourage flowering, so sowing date and daylength influence both flowering time and stem development. In warm climates, autumn planting may be possible with suitable winter protection. In colder climates, spring growing is the simpler approach.

Pinching & Branching

Pinch once while plants are young and established after transplanting to encourage side branches and several useful cutting stems.

Pinching can delay the first flowers, but helps create a more balanced plant rather than one large central stem with smaller side shoots. Plants grown closely for single-stem production are managed differently.

Harvesting & Vase Care

Harvest when several flowers are open and plenty of unopened buds remain on the stem. For local use, around 3–6 open flowers provides an attractive cutting stage.

Individual flowers last only a few days, while remaining buds continue to open. A stem with plenty of healthy buds offers a longer display.

Remove lower foliage and place stems immediately into clean water. Avoid adding household sugar: excessive sugar can damage petals and cause leaf yellowing. Keep arrangements cool and away from ripening fruit and other sources of ethylene.

Expect approximately 7 days or more of vase life, depending on the harvest stage and conditions.
