Growing from Seed

For best results, start the seeds indoors well before the outdoor growing season.

• Place the pellet on the surface of moist growing medium
• Do not cover the seed
• Light is required for germination
• Germination temperature: 22–23°C
• Germination: approximately 7–10 days
• Keep the growing medium consistently moist during germination

After germination, gradually reduce the temperature to around 20–21°C and provide the young plants with plenty of light.

Light & Flowering

Funky® White is a long-day flowering Begonia.

Long days and good light levels encourage earlier flowering and help plants develop strong, well-branched growth.

During the young plant stage, approximately 14–16 hours of light provides ideal conditions for development.

For the home gardener, the most important point is to give young plants as much good natural light as possible, particularly when sowing during the darker winter months.

Watering & Growing Conditions

Begonias prefer a fertile, high-quality and well-drained growing medium that retains moisture without remaining permanently waterlogged.

Young seedlings require consistent moisture, but once established, allow the surface of the growing medium to begin drying slightly between waterings.

Avoid allowing the plants to dry out completely.

Move young plants outdoors only after the danger of frost has passed and temperatures are reliably warm.

Growing in Pots & Hanging Baskets

Funky® White is especially impressive when given enough space to develop its naturally semi-trailing shape.

For a full display, approximately:
