Snapdragon Monaco Plumblossom F1 | Group 3 | Antirrhinum majus
Monaco Plumblossom F1 is a professional Group 3 snapdragon developed for high-quality cut flower production. This new Monaco colour brings a sophisticated plum-toned shade to the series, ideal for growers and florists looking for more unusual, refined colours. PanAmerican Seed lists Plumblossom as a new Monaco variety for 2027.
The elegant colour works beautifully in romantic, vintage-inspired and tonal arrangements, pairing especially well with dusty pinks, mauves, burgundy, cream and other muted shades.
The Monaco series produces long, strong stems and high-quality flower spikes. Under professional greenhouse or high-tunnel conditions, stems can reach approximately 81–152 cm.
As a Group 3 snapdragon, Monaco Plumblossom is best suited to moderate daylength, moderate light levels and cool growing conditions, making it particularly useful for transitional growing periods.

How to Start from Seed
For best results, start Monaco Plumblossom indoors and transplant the young plants.
Sow one seed per cell onto the surface of a fine, moist seed-starting mix. Cover the seeds only very lightly.
Keep the substrate evenly moist but never waterlogged. After germination, provide the seedlings with plenty of light and good air circulation.
Young snapdragon plants benefit from cooler growing conditions as they develop.
Growing
Plant in a sunny position in fertile, moist but well-drained soil.
For professional cut flower production, Monaco is particularly suited to greenhouses and high tunnels. Because the plants develop tall stems, support netting is recommended to help produce straight, high-quality stems.
To Pinch or Not to Pinch?
For one long, premium-quality cut flower stem, grow the plants without pinching.
If you prefer a more branched plant with several flowering stems, the growing tip can be pinched when plants are young. This encourages side shoots but generally results in shorter individual stems and later flowering.
Harvest
Harvest when approximately 5–6 florets have opened on the flower spike.
After cutting, always keep snapdragon stems upright, as they can bend or curl when stored horizontally.
Vase life: approximately 7–10 days.
What Does Group 3 Mean?
Professional cut flower snapdragons are divided into groups according to the daylength, light and temperature conditions in which they perform best.
Monaco Plumblossom belongs to Group 3. The Monaco Group 3 series is recommended for moderate daylength, moderate light and temperatures around 10–13°C.
This makes Monaco especially valuable for producing high-quality snapdragons during transitional growing periods, rather than the hottest and brightest part of summer.
Why Choose Monaco Plumblossom?
Monaco Plumblossom brings an unusual, sophisticated plum colour to the professional Monaco cut-flower series. Combined with long, strong stems and elegant flower spikes, it is a beautiful choice for wedding floristry, vintage-inspired bouquets, romantic arrangements and sophisticated tonal colour palettes.
Its distinctive colour makes it especially useful for growers wanting to expand beyond traditional pink, white and yellow snapdragons while maintaining the professional characteristics of the Monaco Group 3 series.
