Antirrhinum majus 'Antibes Apricot' F1 | Group 1 Snapdragon

New! Antirrhinum majus 'Antibes Apricot' F1 is a premium Group 1 snapdragon bred for outstanding performance during cool-season production. It produces elegant, densely packed flower spikes in a rich warm apricot-peach shade, making it an exceptional choice for professional cut flower growers, market gardeners, and home gardeners.

The Antibes series has been specifically developed for growing under short days, low light levels, and cool temperatures, producing strong stems, uniform flowering, and excellent flower quality from autumn through early spring. Unlike many snapdragons, Antibes maintains excellent stem length and flower quality during cooler months, making it ideal for greenhouse production and early outdoor crops.

The warm apricot colour is deeper and more saturated than many similar varieties, adding soft elegance to bouquets and floral arrangements.

Sowing Instructions

Indoor sowing is recommended.

Surface sow seeds 8–10 weeks before planting out. Snapdragon seeds require light for germination, so do not cover them with compost. A very thin layer of fine vermiculite may be used to maintain moisture.

Keep the growing medium evenly moist at 21–24°C.

Germination usually takes 7–14 days.

Transplant seedlings once the first true leaves appear. Plant outdoors after the risk of frost has passed.

For bushier plants with more flowering stems, pinch young plants after they have developed 4–6 true leaves. Pinching delays flowering by approximately two to three weeks.

Growing Tips

'Antibes Apricot' F1 performs best during autumn, winter, and early spring production. It has been specifically bred for cool temperatures and short-day conditions and is not recommended for summer production, where high temperatures and long days can result in shorter, thinner stems.

Ideal for flower farmers and florists, this variety produces long-lasting stems with excellent vase life and a sophisticated warm apricot colour that pairs beautifully with other seasonal cut flowers.
