Thyme SimplyHerbs™ | Thymus vulgaris | Multi-Seed Pellets

SimplyHerbs™ Thyme is an aromatic Winter Thyme with fragrant, medium-green foliage and the classic flavour and aroma of traditional thyme. It is a versatile perennial culinary herb, ideal for growing in pots, containers and herb gardens.

The aromatic leaves are excellent for seasoning poultry, fish, pork, sauces, soups and roasted vegetables. Leaves can be used fresh throughout the growing season or dried or frozen for winter use.

SimplyHerbs™ Thyme is supplied as Multi-Seed Pellets. Each pellet contains multiple seeds, making small thyme seeds easier to sow and helping to produce a fuller group of seedlings from a single pellet. The pellets can be sown in plug trays or directly into the final container.

Under suitable growing conditions, plants reach harvestable maturity approximately 42 days after transplanting.

Multi-Seed Pellets

SimplyHerbs™ Thyme seeds are supplied as Multi-Seed Pellets, with multiple seeds combined into one easy-to-handle pellet.

This makes sowing small thyme seeds more convenient and allows several seedlings to develop together, creating a fuller herb plant.

Sow 1 Multi-Seed Pellet per cell or pot.

It is particularly important to keep the growing medium consistently moist until germination, as sufficient moisture allows the pellet coating to break down properly and the seeds inside to germinate.

How to Start from Seed

SimplyHerbs™ Thyme can be started in plug trays or sown directly into its final pot or container.

Sow 1 Multi-Seed Pellet per cell in a fine, moist, well-drained seed-starting substrate. Cover the pellet lightly with growing medium.

Maintain approximately 20–21°C during the initial germination stage.

Under suitable conditions, the period from 50% germination to maximum germination is approximately 5–8 days.

Keep the substrate consistently moist until germination. Do not allow the pellet to dry out before it has fully broken down.

After germination, provide plenty of light and gradually grow the seedlings at cooler temperatures of approximately 17–21°C.

The young plants normally require approximately 4–5 weeks in the plug stage before they are ready for transplanting.

Growing

Grow thyme in full sun. It performs well both in containers and planted directly in the garden.

Use a well-drained growing medium. Thyme should not remain in constantly waterlogged soil.

For growing on after the seedling stage, the supplied professional growing recommendations are approximately 18–21°C during the day and 13–16°C at night.

SimplyHerbs™ Thyme can also be grown directly in its final container. When grown in approximately 10 cm pots, the finishing crop time is around 4–5 weeks from the plug stage under suitable spring growing conditions.

Harvesting

SimplyHerbs™ Thyme reaches harvestable maturity approximately 42 days after transplanting under suitable conditions.

Harvest the fresh leafy shoots as required. Regular light harvesting allows you to enjoy fresh thyme throughout the growing season.

The aromatic leaves can be used fresh, dried or frozen for later use.

Culinary Use

Thyme is a classic aromatic herb with a warm, savoury flavour that works particularly well in dishes that require longer cooking.

Use SimplyHerbs™ Thyme for poultry, fish, pork, roasted vegetables, potatoes, soups, sauces, stews and marinades. It can also be used to prepare aromatic herbal vinegar.

SimplyHerbs™ Thyme combines the classic flavour of traditional thyme with the convenience of Multi-Seed Pellets, making it an excellent choice for growing fresh herbs in pots, containers and herb gardens.
