Growing from Seed

BIG® Soft Pink Bronze Leaf is supplied as pelleted seed, making the naturally tiny Begonia seeds considerably easier to handle and sow.

For large, well-developed plants by early summer, sow indoors or in a greenhouse well in advance of the outdoor planting season.

A day length of more than approximately 13 hours promotes flower initiation. Higher light levels and warmer growing conditions can also encourage earlier flowering.

When sowing during the darker winter months, supplemental lighting can help produce stronger and more uniform seedlings.

Once established outdoors, plants perform well in sun to partial shade.

Watering & Growing Conditions

BIG® Soft Pink Bronze Leaf grows best in a fertile, airy and well-drained growing medium.

During germination, keep the substrate evenly moist. Once plants are established and well rooted, allow the surface of the growing medium to dry slightly between waterings.

Avoid both prolonged waterlogging and severe drying.

Because of its vigorous growth and substantial mature size, container-grown plants may require regular watering during warm summer weather.

Plant outdoors only after the risk of frost has passed.
