Antirrhinum majus Early Potomac™ Rose Improved F1 | Group 3 | Snapdragon

Early Potomac™ Rose Improved F1 is a professional Group 3 cut-flower snapdragon with elegant rose-pink flowers and exceptionally long, strong stems. It is an excellent choice for growers looking for high-quality snapdragons for Spring and Autumn production.

Unlike the warmer-season Potomac™ Group 4 varieties, Early Potomac™ is designed to perform under medium to long days and moderate to high light levels. It produces very high-quality, long stems with an attractive, well-balanced taper.

The sophisticated rose-pink colour is versatile for floristry, working beautifully in romantic bouquets, wedding arrangements and combinations with blush, cream, white, apricot and deeper pink flowers.

How to Start from Seed

For cut-flower production, Early Potomac™ Rose Improved is best started indoors and transplanted.

Sow one seed per cell into a fine, moist seed-starting substrate. Keep the young seedlings in a bright location and maintain even moisture without allowing the substrate to remain excessively wet.

Allow approximately 4–5 weeks for young plant production before transplanting.

Under suitable growing conditions, plants require approximately 8–10 weeks from transplanting to finish. During less favourable growing periods, development can be considerably slower and the finishing period may extend to as much as 18 weeks.

Growing Early Potomac™

Early Potomac™ Rose Improved can be grown under medium to long days and moderate to high light levels.

It is particularly well suited to Spring and Autumn production, making it useful for extending the snapdragon cutting season beyond the warmest summer period.

For professional cut-flower production, the variety performs especially well in a greenhouse or high tunnel.

Plants are tall and upright, reaching approximately 99–152 cm, and produce the long, straight stems desired for floristry.

Planting Density

For professional cut-flower production, the recommended planting density is approximately 64–106 plants per m².

Higher-density planting can be used under high-light conditions or in field production.

For general garden growing, the recommended spacing is approximately 25–36 cm between plants.

What Does Group 3 Mean?

Snapdragons for cut-flower production are divided into groups according to the day length, light intensity and temperatures under which they perform best.

Early Potomac™ Rose Improved belongs to Group 3. It is adapted to medium to long days and moderate to high light levels, making it particularly suitable for Spring and Autumn programs.

This makes Early Potomac™ a useful complement to the standard Potomac™ varieties intended primarily for warmer, high-light summer conditions.

What Colour is Early Potomac™ Rose Improved?

Rose Improved is an elegant rose-pink shade — a classic, sophisticated colour that works particularly well in romantic and pastel floral palettes.

Its rose colouring combines beautifully with white, ivory, cream, blush, apricot, lavender and deeper pink tones, making it a versatile variety for professional floristry.

Why Choose Early Potomac™ Rose Improved?

Early Potomac™ Rose Improved combines elegant rose-pink flowers with exceptionally long, strong stems and excellent stem quality.

Its main advantage is its suitability for Spring and Autumn cut-flower production, when medium to long days and moderate to high light levels provide favourable conditions.

For growers building a longer snapdragon season, Early Potomac™ Rose Improved provides a valuable Group 3 option between cool-season and warm-season snapdragon varieties.
