Dianthus barbatus Sweet™ Pink F1 | Sweet William Seeds | Pelleted
Sweet™ Pink F1 is a professional Sweet William variety producing large, fragrant clusters of clear pink flowers on strong stems—ideal for cut flower gardens, bouquets and wedding floristry.
Dianthus barbatus Sweet™ Pink F1 has been bred specifically for high-quality cut flower production. Its rounded flower heads consist of numerous vivid pink florets carried on strong, straight stems. The flowers add beautiful colour, fragrance, volume and texture to seasonal arrangements.
The versatile clear pink shade combines beautifully with white, cream, apricot, lavender and deeper pink flowers. It is especially attractive in romantic garden bouquets, wedding arrangements and colourful summer designs.
A major advantage of the Sweet™ series is its ability to flower in the first year without vernalisation. Unlike traditional biennial Sweet William varieties, it can be incorporated easily into a seasonal cut flower production programme. It performs particularly well during cooler growing periods and is suitable for cultivation outdoors, in a greenhouse or under a high tunnel.

Pink Sweet William for Cut Flowers
Sweet™ Pink F1 produces generous clusters of fragrant pink flowers that create excellent volume and texture in bouquets. Its strong stems and uniform growth make it suitable for professional production as well as home cutting gardens.
The classic pink colour can be used as a soft supporting shade in pastel arrangements or combined with brighter flowers to create vibrant summer bouquets.
Flowers in the First Year
The Sweet™ series does not require a cold period to initiate flowering. Plants raised from seed can therefore bloom during their first growing season.
This first-year flowering habit allows growers to include Sweet™ Pink F1 in an annual production schedule while still enjoying the characteristic clustered blooms and sweet fragrance of Dianthus barbatus.
Sowing and Growing
Sow one pelleted seed per cell in a fine, moist seed-starting substrate. Cover lightly and keep the substrate evenly moist throughout germination, ensuring that the pellet does not dry out.
- Sowing: One pelleted seed per cell
- Germination temperature: 18–20°C
- Germination time: Approximately 3–4 days under optimum conditions
- Plug crop time: Approximately 5–6 weeks
- Position: Full sun
- Growing conditions: Performs particularly well in cool conditions
After germination, provide bright light and gradually reduce the temperature to encourage compact plants and strong flower stems. Transplant outdoors after the risk of severe frost has passed.
Harvesting for Cut Flowers
Harvest when approximately 20–50% of the individual florets in each flower cluster are open. At this stage, the stems are well suited to fresh bouquets and floral arrangements while the remaining buds continue to open.
Cut during the cooler part of the day and place the stems in clean water immediately after harvesting.
