Snapdragon Potomac™ Ivory White F1 | Group 3–4 | Antirrhinum majus

Potomac™ Ivory White F1 is a professional cut-flower snapdragon with elegant ivory-white blooms, a soft yellow centre and tall, strong stems. The combination of white petals and subtle creamy-yellow colouring in the centre gives the flowers their characteristic soft, warm ivory appearance.

This refined neutral colour is beautiful for wedding flowers, romantic bouquets, elegant arrangements and soft pastel colour palettes. It combines easily with white, cream, blush, peach, apricot and other delicate shades.

Potomac™ is developed for production during periods of high light, long days and warm temperatures. Plants produce tall, strong stems and long flower spikes with excellent flower quality. PanAmerican Seed lists Ivory White as Group 3–4, with stems reaching approximately 99–152 cm.

How to Start from Seed

Sow one seed per cell into a fine, moist seed-starting substrate and cover the seed only very lightly.

Maintain approximately 18–21°C during the first stage of propagation. As the seedlings develop, temperatures can gradually be reduced to approximately 16–18°C.

Allow approximately 4–5 weeks for young plant production before transplanting.

Provide plenty of light after germination and maintain even moisture without keeping the substrate excessively wet.

Growing

Potomac™ Ivory White performs best during the warmer, brighter part of the growing season, when days are long and light levels are high.

The plants develop very tall stems, so support netting is recommended to keep them straight and produce high-quality stems for cutting.

Potomac™ Ivory White is particularly suitable for late spring, summer and early autumn cut-flower production. PanAmerican Seed identifies the Potomac series as a warm-season snapdragon; its current series programme places Potomac primarily in Group 4 conditions — long days, high light and temperatures above 16°C.

When to Harvest

Harvest when approximately 5–6 florets have opened on the flower spike.

After cutting, keep snapdragon stems upright, as horizontal storage can cause the stems to bend or curl.

Vase life: approximately 7–10 days.

What Does Group 3–4 Mean?

Snapdragons for professional cut-flower production are divided into groups according to the day length, light intensity and temperatures under which they perform best.

Potomac™ Ivory White is traditionally listed as Group 3–4, making it suitable for the warmer, brighter part of the season. The current PanAmerican Seed programme classifies the Potomac series primarily for Group 4 conditions: long days, high light and temperatures above 16°C.

What Colour is Potomac™ Ivory White?

Potomac™ Ivory White is not a stark, pure white. The flowers are white with a soft yellow centre, which gives the entire flower a warmer, creamy ivory-white appearance. PanAmerican Seed describes the colour as “white with yellow bee.”

This subtle warmth makes Ivory White especially useful for wedding work and natural, romantic colour palettes, where a softer white is often easier to combine with cream, blush, peach and pastel flowers.

Why Choose Potomac™ Ivory White?

Potomac™ Ivory White combines a soft, sophisticated ivory-white colour with long, strong stems and elegant flower spikes. It is an excellent choice for growers looking for a warm-toned neutral snapdragon for wedding flowers, summer bouquets and professional cut-flower production.

Its key advantage is the Potomac™ series’ strong performance during high-light, long-day and warm growing conditions.
