Petunia x hybrida My Joy Sunset Shades F1 | Petunia
Petunia ‘My Joy Sunset Shades F1’ is an exceptional multiflora petunia with a unique blend of warm sunset colours. The flowers open in beautiful shades of peach, apricot, salmon, soft pink and warm golden yellow, creating a naturally varied display in which individual blooms may differ slightly in colour.
Part of the innovative My Joy F1 series, this variety combines a compact, upright plant habit with exceptionally abundant flowering. Plants remain neat and compact in pots while producing masses of large 6–7 cm flowers, making them ideal for containers, patio pots and colourful bedding displays.
One of the outstanding characteristics of the My Joy series is its exceptionally wide temperature adaptability. Plants can tolerate temperatures from approximately –5°C to +40°C and continue developing even under relatively cool conditions. This allows the flowering season to begin early in spring and continue well into autumn.
The series is also characterised by male sterility, which reduces energy spent on seed production and supports continuous, abundant flowering throughout the season.
My Joy Sunset Shades F1 is an excellent choice for gardeners looking for a petunia that combines unusual warm colouring, compact growth, excellent flowering performance and an exceptionally long garden season.

Why Grow My Joy Sunset Shades F1?
The main attraction of My Joy Sunset Shades F1 is its unusual mixture of warm colours. Instead of producing flowers in one uniform shade, plants develop a harmonious combination of peach, apricot, salmon, pink and golden tones. The colour can vary between individual flowers, giving every plant a naturally changing appearance.
Despite its abundant flowering, the plant maintains a compact and upright habit, making it particularly suitable for container production and smaller garden spaces.
Its ability to continue growing across a remarkably broad temperature range also makes My Joy an interesting alternative to conventional petunias, particularly where a long flowering season from cool spring weather through summer and into autumn is desired.
Sowing & Germination
Sow indoors: February–April.
Sow the pelleted seeds on the surface of a fine, moist and well-drained seed-starting substrate. Gently press the pellets into the surface to ensure good contact with the growing medium.
Do not bury the seeds deeply. Light is beneficial for petunia germination.
Keep the growing medium consistently moist so that the pelleted coating dissolves completely, but avoid waterlogging.
Maintain approximately 22–25°C during germination.
Under suitable conditions, germination generally begins within approximately 5–10 days.
After germination, provide seedlings with plenty of light and good air circulation. Slightly cooler growing temperatures will help maintain compact, sturdy plants.
Growing Instructions
Transplant seedlings when they are sufficiently developed to handle. For final production, 14–20 cm pots are recommended.
Grow in a fertile, well-drained growing medium and position plants in full sun for the best flowering performance.
Petunias are relatively heavy feeders, particularly when grown in containers. Feed regularly with a balanced flowering fertiliser throughout the growing season.
Water thoroughly but allow excess water to drain freely. Container-grown plants may require frequent watering during warm summer weather.
The approximate crop time after potting is 7–9 weeks (49–63 days), depending on temperature, light levels, pot size and growing conditions.
