Antirrhinum majus Monaco Dark Pink F1 | Group 3 | Snapdragon

Monaco Dark Pink F1 is a professional Group 3 snapdragon developed for high-quality cut flower production. It produces elegant flower spikes in a rich, deep pink colour, bringing a strong yet refined pink tone to bouquets and floral arrangements.

The Monaco series is known for its long, strong stems and uniform, high-quality flower spikes. Under professional greenhouse or tunnel conditions, stems can reach approximately 81–152 cm.

As a Group 3 snapdragon, Monaco Dark Pink performs best with moderate daylength, good light levels and suitable temperatures, making it particularly useful for spring production and early summer harvests.

How to Grow from Seed

For the best results, start Monaco Dark Pink indoors and transplant later. Direct sowing is not recommended.

Sow approximately 8–10 weeks before you plan to plant outside.

Sow one seed per cell onto the surface of a fine, moist seed-starting mix.

Snapdragon seeds need light for germination, so cover only very lightly, for example with a fine layer of vermiculite.

During the first stage, maintain approximately 18–21°C. Keep the growing medium evenly moist but not waterlogged. The breeder's professional schedule allows approximately 4–5 weeks for young plant production.

After germination, provide plenty of light and good air circulation.

Growing

Plant in a sunny position in fertile, moist but well-drained soil.

For long, straight cut-flower stems, Monaco Dark Pink can be grown without pinching. In professional greenhouse and tunnel production, the recommended density is approximately 86–108 plants/m².

Because the stems can become very tall, a support net is recommended to help keep them straight. Professional production uses at least two layers of support netting, with three preferred for the best support.

To Pinch or Not to Pinch?

For one long, high-quality cut-flower stem, plants do not need to be pinched.

If you prefer a more branched plant with several flowering stems, the growing tip can be pinched when the young plant has approximately 4–6 leaves. Pinching encourages side shoots but will delay flowering by a few weeks and usually produces shorter individual stems.

Harvesting

Harvest when approximately 5–6 florets on the lower part of the flower spike are open.

After cutting, keep the stems upright to help prevent the characteristic bending of snapdragon stems.

Vase life is approximately 7–10 days.

What Does Group 3 Mean?

Cut-flower snapdragons are divided into groups according to the temperature, light levels and daylength under which they perform best.

Monaco Dark Pink belongs to Group 3, which is suited to moderate daylength and good light conditions.

For finishing Group 3 snapdragons, the breeder recommends approximately 13–16°C at night and 16–18°C during the day.

This makes Monaco Dark Pink particularly suitable for spring planting and early summer cut-flower production.

Why Choose Monaco Dark Pink?

Monaco Dark Pink combines a rich, deep pink colour with long, strong stems and elegant flower spikes. Its sophisticated darker pink shade is especially useful for romantic bouquets, tonal pink arrangements and professional cut-flower production, while the Group 3 performance makes it a valuable choice for the spring-to-early-summer growing period.
