Tagetes erecta Xochi™ Orange F1 | African Marigold | Cut Flower

Xochi™ Orange F1 is a professional cut-flower African Marigold developed for long, strong stems and rich orange blooms. Its upright growth, excellent uniformity and durable stems make it particularly suitable for bouquets, florist work and grower bunches.

Unlike compact bedding marigolds, Xochi™ has been bred specifically for cut flower production. Plants reach approximately 61–91 cm in height, with flower stems around 61 cm long, providing the length needed for professional floral arrangements.

The large, intensely coloured orange flowers work beautifully as focal flowers in summer and autumn arrangements. Strong stems provide good durability and help the flowers withstand handling and transport.

Xochi™ Orange is especially suited to summer and autumn cut-flower production, including seasonal arrangements for late summer and autumn celebrations.

Professional Cut Flower Variety

Xochi™ Orange was developed specifically for growers looking for a strong-stemmed Tagetes erecta for cutting.

The plants combine long stems, rich colour and good uniformity, making harvesting easier and producing consistent stems for bouquets.

With a recommended professional planting density of approximately 80–100 plants per m², Xochi™ can be grown efficiently in both high tunnels and open-field production.

Growing from Seed

For professional production, the young plant or plug stage takes approximately 3–4 weeks.

After transplanting, plants require approximately 6–9 weeks to finish, depending on growing conditions and season.

This gives an approximate professional crop time of 9–13 weeks from sowing to a finished crop.

The supplied growing information does not specify a germination temperature, sowing depth or light requirement, so I would not add these to the product page unless we have the breeder’s propagation guide for Xochi™.

Growing & Care

Grow Xochi™ Orange in full sun. Plants have a naturally upright growth habit and are intended for high-density cut-flower production.

For professional flower production, use approximately 10–15 cm spacing, corresponding to around 80–100 plants/m².

Xochi™ performs particularly well in a high tunnel or open field and is an excellent choice for summer and autumn flower production.

Plants can reach 61–91 cm in height, while the strong flower stems can reach approximately 61 cm, providing useful length for cutting.

Harvest & Floral Use

Xochi™ Orange produces strong, durable stems with richly coloured orange flowers that are well suited to handling and transportation.

The large blooms are particularly effective as a focal flower in arrangements rather than simply as a filler.

The warm, saturated orange combines beautifully with burgundy, bronze, terracotta, yellow, cream and autumnal foliage, making Xochi™ especially valuable for late-summer and autumn bouquets.

It is also particularly suited to floral work for Día de los Muertos and Halloween, where richly coloured orange marigolds are traditionally popular.

Xochi™ Orange F1 is an excellent Tagetes for growers and florists who need long, strong stems rather than a compact bedding plant. Its rich orange colour, approximately 61 cm stems and reliable summer-to-autumn production make it a valuable variety for professional cut-flower gardens and seasonal bouquets.
