Colección: Spring Sowing Flower Seeds
Spring is the busiest and most popular sowing season, offering ideal conditions for growing a wide range of flowers. As the days become longer and temperatures rise, both hardy and tender flowers can be sown to produce beautiful blooms throughout summer and autumn.
For European hardiness zones Z4–Z5, spring sowing generally takes place from March to May. Depending on the flower variety, seeds can be started indoors, in an unheated greenhouse, a cold frame, or sown directly into the garden once the risk of severe frost has passed.
Spring sowing is perfect for gardeners of all experience levels and offers the greatest choice of flower varieties for cut flower gardens, cottage gardens, pollinator borders and containers.
Spring sowing methods
Indoor sowing
Start seeds indoors under lights or on a bright windowsill. This method is ideal for flowers that require a long growing season or warmer temperatures before germinating.
Unheated greenhouse
An excellent place to start both hardy and half-hardy flowers. It provides protection from frost while allowing seedlings to develop naturally in cooler conditions.
Cold frame
Perfect for hardy annuals and perennials. Cold frames protect young seedlings while gradually acclimatising them to outdoor conditions.
Direct sowing outdoors
Many fast-growing flowers perform best when sown directly into prepared garden beds after the soil has warmed.
Important note
Almost every flower seed sold by Therapy of Flowers can be sown during spring. Some varieties are best started indoors, while others perform best when direct sown outdoors after the soil has warmed. Spring provides ideal growing conditions for gardeners of every experience level and is the perfect time to establish a colourful cut flower garden that blooms from late spring until the first autumn frosts.
